VW TYPE 2 BUS 1974-1979 BAY Window CLOCK FOR DASH CLUSTER Black FACE 12V

This auction is for a rare , black-faced dashboard clock, as fitted to Type 2 Bay Window Buses, Campers, Vans, Pick-Ups , Westfalia etc... Strictly speaking, this clock is correct for vans with black-faced dials, model years 1974-79, but it will physically fit any Bay Window from 1968-79. It is an easy and direct replacement of the blanking plate on the right of the dash pod. Depending on the year of your van, this will be either a plain steel plate or one behind glass..either way, the removal of this blank will leave the aperture open for the fitting of the clock.  The clock is held in with the same 2 screws (one top,one bottom) as the blank plate The clock is fitted from behind the dash pod housing, which means that the brass ring on the face of the clock is no longer visible (see pic of clock in place). The clock is in Very good condition, keeps time well and comes with ticking second hand,night-time illumination. Wiring it in is very easy, one earth wire (brown) to spur off the rear of the dash cluster, one permant live (red ) which is taken off the permanent live on the headlight switch generally situated on the dash below the clock, and one wire for the dash illumination light, which also spurs off from the other lights in the rear of the dash cluster. This is a very sought-after accessory for the Type 2 Bay Window, and is becoming increasingly rare. Plastic lens two small cracks and surface scuffs. You can make a new lens if you want.
