Item Description Here is a great Vintage Mantel Clock for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! What really makes this clock unique are the enameled porcelain panels on the front and sides of the clock case. Then there is the crystal regulator case embedded within this beautiful surrounding case. This style clock does not come to the market very often. Made in the People's Republic of China, which China has been noted as since 1949. Noted as No. 8 on the maker's label on the back of the clock. We see a similar clock to this one is being offered on an online store site for $4,950. This fine Vintage Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling clocks out of our home for over 35 years. We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and clock shops experience . This clock probably dates to the 1970s to 1980s. Has a beautiful brass movement and then two plaques of women on either side of the beveled glass case. The elegant hands are still on the clock. The face is an enameled metal, the grommets in place. Great enameled cloisonne trim ring around the face. The pendulum bob has an image of a 3 masted schooner captured on it. The topper on the case is a little loose and needs some tightening attention. The front and rear bezels are on hinges and attached to the clock case. Both doors are still secured well. The side glass pieces are still intact and beveled. There is no cracking or blistering of any of the beveled glass pieces. The gold colored lacquer finish on the clock shows some loss in places. Most notably on the top of the clock case. See pics. The enameled cloisonne all appears to still be in place. The clock will hold a beat and strikes the hours, but does not stay running after a few minutes. The clock will strike strikes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour when run manually. Strike needs some adjustment. The movement is most likely a 7 day movement. The strike spring feels sound when keyed. The time spring appears to be broken and will need replacing. T he clock will come with a newer wind key. This is a time and gong wire strike clock. This clock's is being sold in not running, but striking condition. The clock stands 18.5" tall, by 14.5" across, by 6.5" wide. The clock face is 3-5/8".
