Vintage mid century modern 1950s Boomerang-style Westclox 707 electric table clock cased in a block of solid mahogany. In working order (alarm and keeps time). The brass-tone dial is completed by a sweep-seconds hand, an alarm pointer, and hour- and minute-hands. The clock keeps accurate time. The alarm function works. Overall dimensions for the clock without packaging: about 10 " length, 4 5/8" height, 3" deep. This particular example's mahogany wears its original factory finish.
The finish shows some scuffs, bumps, nicks and scritches from its 60+
years of survival. The metal shows some age toning. It makes sound when it first starts up after plugging it in. The sound will diminish to very quiet after warming up. Background: The Westclox 707 table / mantle / shelf clock was manufactured in a very short production run in the 1950s. With relatively few ever produced, there are a dwindling number today that run accurately and are in good-to-fine physical condition. The Westclox 707 was featured on the cover of the recent book on Westclox clock production. The Westclox model 707 got its aerodynamic name in a reference to Boeing's narrow-body jetliner commercially introduced in 1958. The "seven-oh-seven" name for the clock highlighted its aerodynamic styling. The clock's dynamic, sinuous lines capture the eye with subtle, quite complex, curvilinear and flat-plane geometry, accented by glints of light reflected by the glass-covered brass-toned dial, the surrounding bezel, and the satellite-referencing brass-rod trim. There's no other clock like it. None. --------------------- I pack with great care and ship promptly. Shipping is calculated by ebay from my zip code to the buyer's based on package size and weight.
