Vintage 1970s Heavy Brass HAMILTON Swiss Electronic LIC ATO Mantle Clock - WORKS - This Hamilton desk clock is in very good original condition with some light age related wear - This clock features the unique ATO electro magnetic electronic movement which is one of the things that make it so interesting - The case is very high quality and made of heavy, thick brass (both the case and movement are Swiss made) - The original finish is in excellent condition except for a spot of tarnish on the right side and a bit of very light tarnish elsewhere upon close inspection - All original parts are present and fully intact - The glass face is in excellent condition with no damage - The original dial is in excellent condition bearing the name Hamilton Electronic Lic. ATO (the electronic movement is licensed by ATO) - The Swiss made movement is licensed by ATO meaning that it uses an electro magnet to move a balance wheel which runs and regulates the clock - This was a popular movement for battery powered clocks of the 60's and 70's predating the quartz movements that are popular now - These early battery powered movements were hybrid electro-mechanical types giving them a unique mechanical sound compared with modern quartz clocks - This clock retains its original movement but luckily it has been modified to run on a single AA battery (I will include one with the clock) - The clock runs reliably and keeps accurate time all while making its iconic ticking sound, unique to ATO type electronic clocks. - The case measures about 4-1/4" Wide X 2-1/4" Deep X 4-3/4" Tall (Not including handle) and about 6-1/4" tall with the handle - This clock weighs 3lbs and 9.6 oz. Overall, this is a very high quality 1970's era Hamilton desk clock in a heavy, Swiss made brass case with a Swiss made ATO licensed electronic movement that has been converted to run on a single AA battery.
