Item Description Nice Seth Thomas Ships Bell Clock for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! Great Vintage Ships Bell Clock from Seth Thomas Company that was owned by Talley Industries.  The movement was made in Germany, the case in the USA.  This is the Corsair-W, model # E537-000. The case is made of metal and still have a nice shiny brass look plated finish to them.  Some minor finish loss.  All the ship's wheel spindles on the case are in place. Screw off glass bezel.  The glass is intact, no cracking or blistering.  Made sometime after 1968, not sure of the exact year.  Probably late 70's to 1980 with when used for the presentation to a party, but who knows. The clock's two springs feel sound when keyed.  Springs are wound tight The clock has a Ship's Bell routine every four hours.  So strikes four double strikes at 12, 4, and 8, one double strike at 1, 5, and 9, and two double strikes at 2, 6, and 10.  At the half hour the clock does the previous hour's double strike (none for 12:30, 4:30 and 8:30) and then a single strike.  With the spring fully wound, the clock will run for 8 days. The clock has a 7 jewel  German made movement.  The movement appears to be made of metal or brass, before the company started going to plastic components in the latter 1960s.  This clock was recently acquired, and the movement has not been serviced or cleaned. Nice wood plaque here.  Great graining and luster to the wood.  There is ship type rope around the front of the plaque as well. The piece was presented to a Lieutenant Commander Fried of the US Coast Guard Reserve in Baltimore in 1980, per the brass plate affixed to the plaque. The Ship's Bell Clock Case is 5.5" across by 3-1/16" wide.  The clock face is 3-5/8" across. Comes with a winding key.   The wood plaque by itself is 11" across, by 12.25" tall, by 1-3/16" wide. Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it.   The item can be returned, there is a 15% restocking fee to do so. The clock is currently not in running and striking condition, no guarantee of that on delivery to Buyer as mechanical clocks are susceptible to shaking issues during shipping that may require adjustment or repair upon delivery.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
