Antique Samuel Marti Clock w/ Bronze Curved 4 Embossed Bronze Plates of Cherubs/Cupids Goldish Brown Marble Case w/ Matching Columns Unique Crystal Regulator Case Embedded Within Very Unique Case
Item Description Here is a great Antique French Figural Clock for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! What really makes this clock unique are the bronze plaques on the top sides of the clock case. Then the crystal regulator case embedded within this beautiful marble case. Nothing like this case on any of the antique clock sites that we research acquisitions at. There are embossed images of cupids or cherubs in various poses on the 4 plaques. Have never seen this on a Marti clock that we have acquired over the past 35 years. (we do have an L Marti Clock right now with similar bronze plates). There is also a bronze plaque on the front of the clock of two swans hold a banner. Plaque is a little loose, needs some tightening attention. The two bronze top finials are in place. This fine Antique Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling clocks out of our home for over 35 years. We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and clock shops experience . Beautiful mantel clock here made in France. The maker was Samuel Marti. The clock dates to the late 1800s. Very unique and rare clock case here with the crystal regulator case embedded into a marble case . Has a beautiful brass French movement and then four bronze plaques that goes around the sides, on the top and bottom. Then the goldish brown marble and brass cases. The elegant hands are still on the clock. The face is an enameled metal, no grommets in place don't think there ever were any. Great gold colored trim ring around the face. The front and rear bezels are on hinges and attached to the clock case. Both doors are still secured well. The side glass pieces are still intact and beveled, no cracking or blistering. The front glass is blistered and cracked in the top right corner. The glass in the back door is missing. This unique looking clock probably dates to the latter 1800s period. The case is made of a goldish brown marble. Has bronze ends on the top and bottom of each of the six matching columns. One of the columns is loose and needs some tightening attention. Some minor hairlining and chipping of the marble case, all the marble pieces still seem to be in place. We have oiled the rear pivot points on the back movement of the clock. The clock will hold a beat and strikes the hours, but does not stay running after a few minutes. The strike strikes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour when run manually. The strike hammer has been resoldered some time in the past. The suspension spring is in place. Both springs feels sound when keyed. T he clock will come with a newer wind key. This is a time and gong wire strike clock. The clock strikes strikes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour. The pendulum is not original to the clock, a replacement one that works just fine. This clock's movement has just been serviced and the clock is now being sold in running & striking condition. The movement has a Samuel Marti impressed silver medallion on it in the center behind the bell. The back plate of the movement also has "F Pelissier" and "France" impressed on it. On the bottom of the back plate of the movement, the number "539" and "6" are impressed on it. The clock stands 17.75" tall, by 12-7/8" across, by 4.5" wide. The clock face is 3-5/8".
