Patent 1882 Ansonia Cast Iron Black Venice Style Marble Mantle Clock 8

Patented June 18, 1882. Purchased at auction in 2011 for $130; cast iron black mantle clock with paper face, arabic numerals, spade hands, brass bezel, incised swirled design with architectural details. 8 day strike movement. Marked J589. Measures 15" x 10.25". USA New York, Ansonia Clock Co. The clock runs well but has some dust and needs service. Glass bezel and support ring was seperated from the supporting brass hinged dial cover. Some residue and minor scratches on bezel. Wear spot on top where there is a light stain. Early Venice model. It weighs 25 pounds.
