New Haven Mantel Clock, Gem Cottage. This clock has a wood case with pitched top, reverse painted glass on the door, looks like a Venice scene with gondola. This clock measures approx. 13-7/8” tall, 9-3/8” wide and 4” deep. Metal painted dial, 5”. Includes key and pendulum. Wood case is in good shape with expected age and use wear. New Haven paper lines the inside back wall. Center of dial has what looks like an alarm setting. I’ve not opened this clock, but since there isn’t a gong and there's only one movement, the two-key hole dial is either a replacement or the movement was changed to time only.
This is a movement only clock. There are two arbor holes but only one arbor and only one gear set with spring. This clock runs from several minutes to several hours. I think it just needs balancing. When I remove the pendulum bob the pendulum rod moves rapidly. I don’t know if the pendulum bob is original. I could be a replacement that’s too heavy if balance isn’t the fix.
