This very rare rolling-digital clock by Lawson Time, Inc. is even rarer in Jade Green color; It is a very striking art deco design that Lawson produced in very limited numbers in vibrant colors they called "Mellow Burgundy, Golden Ivory, Jungle Mahogany, Jade Green, Canary Yellow, and Pacific Blue." Lawson is of course noted for their art deco clocks, which are much sought after and extremely collectible. The company did not mass-produce their offerings in the manner of say, General Electric; indeed, offered new in 1954 at $14.95, they were sold at the equivalent of about $150.00 in today's dollars. This clock Runs and Keeps good Time. The original yellow and brown paper Lawson sticker on the bottom of the clock is still in place despite the passage of many decades, and is a UL sticker (Underwriters Laboratories); the clock still has what appears to be the original brown UL cord, there is a part remaining of another sticker on the brass backplate. The celluloid viewing window through which the time is read appears to be original, and is slightly toned with age but still has high clarity. The style of the rolling numbers is what has been classified as "Style No. 2" by author Randy Juster in his outstanding 2019 reference on Lawson clocks: "Moderne Time - Lawson Art Deco Clocks," and as such the movement in this clock is noted as being a more robust mechanism than earlier movements. A further reason for the rarity of these Americana clocks is that the beautifully-colored plastic cases were quite fragile, and thus easily damaged, per Mr. Juster. Indeed, this clock's case has a few minor chips, and on the bottom some hairline cracking (Please consult the included 18 photos/video, which depicts the clock running).
