The clock face reads “Avisse” “Chevreuse” The movement of the clock is stamped "Vincenti & Cie 1855" and displays matching serial numbers in more than one place. Appraised 3 years ago. The appraiser said it is Avisse Chevreuse Bronze gilt French Ormolu Mantle clock with lady and dog. Early 20th century. The clock is perfect for collectors of French decorative items and antique clocks. It does need some repair where it attaches to base. This bronze French figural mantle clock is a rare find for collectors of antique clocks. The large impressive clock features a beautifully crafted lady and hound figural - patina bronze, adding an elegant touch to any decor. The clock is in working condition, with winding key. The clock face features a glass hinged door. The clock's intricate design and craftsmanship make it a valuable addition to any collection. The clock is a true testament to the artistry of French clockmaking. Crafted in Victorian era, it eludes to the neoclassical era of Napoleon, and features the grey hound dog… heralding in the art deco to come. Winds with key. Glass hinged door cover intact. Opens and closes for winding. The back side of clock is open. This doesn’t appear to be uncommon for period mantle clocks. The movement has several marks of authentication. Stamped with the VICENTI 1955 makers mark. Matching Serial numbers appear in at least 2 spots on the movement’s interior. It’s large, unique and heavy. I’ve found many like it, only one with the same figures - lady and sight hound, none with the same patina ornamental feet.
