Antique Ships Clock and Barometer on Wood Oak Wall Plaque Clock Running & Barometer Not Operating 9" Bezel, 6.75" Face Made in Great Britain
Item Description Nice Antique Ships Wall Clock (Time Only) and Barometer Set for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! Nice looking wall clock and barometer set here. Most likely made in Great Britain from what noted inside the case of the clock. This is not the smaller 4" case model. This is the larger 9" bezel case model. Saw no serial number inside on the movement. Had a "GB" and "8" impressed on the plate the movement is attached to. There is also an "18" impressed on one of the plates of the movement. Would guess from design that the clock was made prior to WWII, maybe before WWI. Nice brass lacquered cases here. The clock bezel screws off, the barometer bezel is held on by screws (2 of 3 of them there). Some finish loss, most notably on the 4 to 6 o'clock position on the bezel. The numbering and minute marking are done in black on the silver background face. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The seconds hand is also in place. The slow/fast adjustment lever is in place on the face of the clock, and seems to work as well. The brass cases are all there. No dings or dents to the metal cases. Does show some minor lacquer loss to the case, mostly on the bezel and some discoloration on the sides of the case. The glass is intact on both bezels, no cracks or blistering to the glass. Beautiful silver colored faces on both instruments. Incised numbering and lettering on both faces that are then painted black within the incising. The clock has an 8 day mechanical brass movement. The wind spring feels sound when keyed. A screw missing that holds the front plate to the back plate on the movement. The clock is being sold in running condition at this juncture. The barometer instrument is in good shape as well. The small chain is still intact on the mechanism. The number "11111" is impressed on the top ring of the case. Have not seen the needle move yet, as have only had for a short period of time. Saying the barometer is not operating condition until we can observe operation further. A screw missing out of the barometer face. Someone hand made this oak wood plaque the Ship's Clock and Barometer are mounted on. Some minor wear and chipping to the case. A split to the plaque on the clock side of the piece. A neat little brass anchor, ships wheel, and bust of a sea captain are mounted to the wall plaque. The Ships Wall Clock and Barometer Set on the Oak Wood Plaque is 15" tall, by 27.75" across, by 4.75" wide. The Ship's Clock and Barometer are 9" across by the front bezel, by 3.5" wide.
