Antique Seth Thomas Rosewood Cottage Alarm Mantel Clock SQUIRREL

This simple 1870's Thomaston era clock measures 15 3/4" x 10 1/8" x 3 3/4" deep and retains original finish (dry) to the case overall.  The facade is rosewood veneer and the sides and top retain original shiny/streaked faux rosewood paint.  It runs for hours when wound and will not strike: the strike spring slips/pops so it is likely broken.  It has the original galvanized metal dial with losses, flaking paint and ugly repaint to center.  The pendulum bob is original and the key is very old brass.  It has good interior papers and nice alarm with cast iron bell.  You will note chips/losses to the veneer; the remaining veneer seems tight.  I really like the gold squirrel on the tablet!
