Clock 18 ½" x 7" x 12", Garnitures 13 ½" Here is a fine rouge marble and polished slate Victorian clock garniture with bronze mounts, with Jappy style full plate brass movement that features an exposed escapement showing anchor (pallet) and wheel. Sunken area of dial is engine turned, all chapters are Roman numerals engraved into black slate ring, numerals filled with gold paint. Gold finished spade type hands. Bevel edged flat glass crystal flanked by a bronze Psyche at three and nine position. Bronze lion paw feet. Case is made from polished black slate and rouge marble. Topped with a removable bronze cover on a handled urn. Storage for key and other sundries. The two garnitures are the same slate and rouge marble style, with bronze decorations. The decorative handles feature griffins instead of scrolls, as on the clock. Inventory numbers on the backs. Butler's inventory number. Provenance: old prominent private collection, Louisville, KY; by descend in the family to the current owner. Condition: Running and correct chiming at inspection (half hour and hour strike), but not tested for accuracy, Small flake out of corner edge on one garniture as well as a chip on the edge of the rouge marble of the bulbous form. One garniture is missing a mask on the lower facia; clock case appears to be missing ormolu mounts flanking dial. Running and striking bell at inspection but not tested for accuracy and not guaranteed to run. Sold as is and as found. Please see photos for condition.
