Collectibles / Decorative Collectibles / Clocks / Desk, Mantel & Shelf Clocks
Stands 11.25" tall, 10" wide and 4.6" long. Dial measures 3.7" in diameter, with the brass frame 4.5" Weighs 8.78 lbs. Comes with key...not original to the clock but fits the bolts to wind up the hour and chime....does not fit the part above the 12 0' clock to lower or raise the pendulum. Clockwork was made by Japy Freres, has a stamp on the back of the movement which shows that Japy Freres won an award at the 1855 Paris Exposition....does not mean that the award was for this particular clock. Between 1819-1880 Japy Freres and Son's won 16 medals. Clock winds up but with the pendulum attached does not work, after removing the pendulum the clock runs...without the weight of the pendulum the movement, of course, runs on high speed. Clock strikes at the half hour and at the hour. Please note that the clock should be seen by a professional clock repair person as reattaching the pendulum is kind of tricky, I was able to carefully unhook the pendulum but not able to hook it back on. Porcelain casing is free of cracks, there is a small chip on the gilded scroll work which has been touched up with gold paint...see picture, no other chips noted. There are a couple of areas where the blue paint is rubbed off. Glaze shows crazing all over. Wear to the gold trim here and there, possible touch up of the gold trim on the lower left corner. The hinged beveled glass face has a scratch in the middle which is barely noticeable unless looking very closely, the ornate frame of the face cover has a ding on one of the tiny beads...see picture...again barely noticeable unless searching for imperfections. No damages on the enameled face, no scratches on the painted numerals. The front of the porcelain case features a painted scene of a courting couple at a lake, the sides of the case features hand painted sprigs of flowers and gilded sprigs of flowers in moriage...no damage to the moriage. The case is mounted on four brass feet. Please look at all pictures as they are and important part of my description.
