Take this once in a lifetime opportunity to own the EXTREMELY RARE & BEAUTIFULLY executed gilded bronze clock known worldwide as “The Love Letter,” as contained on page  120 of FRENCH BRONZE CLOCKS written by Elke Niehuser (see photos for references ).  The French clockmaker who was responsible for the bronze casting design work is know as Francois-Louis Savart , completed in 1810. Highest quality French gilded bronze clock case (gilding loss seen in photos) contains a solid brass plate 14-day wind two train silk suspension movement (movement in restored condition); porcelain faceplate contains neo-classical Roman numerals hand painted onto clock face (some porcelain loss at winding arbors); also contained on the clock face is a small FAST/SLOW adjustment gear centered above the clock hands pivot point; clock face is protected with hinged bronze door fitted with a clear beveled convex glass which shuts against the polished gilded bronze clock case; the backside of this clock contains a second hinged round beveled clear glass door (this door’s glass is of a flat design) set into a gilded bronze door frame that slips snugly into the case recessed opening; the cast nickel bell resonates beautifully within the bronze clock cavity; both movement& bell assemblies are mounted securely to case. Masterfully made high quality Neo-Classical Empire Style fire gilded bronze clock: “ The young woman holds the written message and is ready to give it to her carrier pigeon .  The relief below the clock face shows the receiver to be a young shepherd, who receives the letter in an idyllic landscape, with the lambs on the base repeating the theme.”  See photos of reference book. Chiming correctly & running on time. DIMENSIONS: height 20” x width 15 ½” x depth 6” I am an antique clock collector wishing to reduce my clock collection. I am NOT a retailer . This clock comes from my collection & has been running successfully for several years with no difficulties.  It has been tested prior to this offering.  Clock set-up to establish the correct “beat” is paramount to the clock’s operation, accomplished through placement & leveling (sometimes with rotating the movement while in the clock case). Additionally, temperature & humidity may affect it over time as well . Do not over wind a clock.  Lastly, I cannot not guarantee the clock’s operation once shipped.  I do take pride as a seller and buyer of these clocks. All shipments will be wrapped in bubble wrap (key & pendulum wrapped separately ) set tightly into box containing Styrofoam peanuts, tapped shut& then placed into second box filled with padding for added protection, taped shut on all sides. Please ask any questions regarding this item; responses will be made as quickly as possible . No international  shipping and No refunds.
