This circa 1850 French Morbier weight driven clock is beautiful example of classic clock making. It has the verge crown wheel escapement; it strikes on the hour and a minute or two later repeats and also strikes on the half hour. It has a loud clear bell which is pleasant to hear. All together it weighs about 45 pounds. The original brass hands have been repaired, the porcelain dial has some hairline cracks, the right door is an old replacement, the cables and pendulum are modern replacements of unknown age. The brass repousse dial surround is solid with an old patina that has been lightly cleaned. The top figures are a man on the left and a woman on the right reclining towards each other. In the images it sets on a clock stand which is not included in the sale. This clock will be shipped in three boxes.
