This French ca 1870, column clock has an A.D. Mougin movement. It is a column clock, made of white alabaster with bronze decoration. There are 6 feet, which are used to level the clock. The movement is stamped by A.D. Mougin along with the well known star and is marked "Duex Medailles" Serial number 69286. The clock has been tested and adjusted by our clock maker and is in very good working condition. There are several instructions from him also included with the clock to ensure optimal function. The clock chimes on the whole hour and the half hour. AD Mougin was a well-known French clock maker working in the mid nineteenth century.
He is known to have made clocks in the French clock making region of Montbeliard (which is close to the Swiss border) and is also listed as having premises on the Rue de Turenne in Paris. He won two gold medals at exhibitions for his clocks and used these as the basis for his trademark which contain the ‘Deux Medailles’ . This trademark can usually be found stamped on the back of his clocks.
Overall condition of the clock is very good with some use nicks to the alabaster and some fading on the gilt decorations.
Measurements are: 8 1/4" by 3 1/2" and 18" tall.
