Antique French black slate and marble mantel clock, Medaille d'Argent. This clock has an 8-day, double key wind, half hour and hour striking, movement. The clock works perfectly and keeps excellent time with a quiet movement. The striking movement also works perfectly but the bell is missing, apparently removed at some point. The brass plate that forms the back of the brass movement is stamped Medaille d'Argent (Gilquin), No. 2946. This indicates French Circa 1855-1970. The clock face is porcelain with black Arabic numerals. The white face has some hand painted floral designs. The face is clean and undamaged. The brass Brexel surrounding the face and the glass face cover are equally clean, in excellent condition and undamaged. The clock is made of black slate with some inlaid marble and some gold designs on the front. The black slate and marble are totally unmarked and free from any chipping or damage. The clock size including the brass designs on the top and on the sides is 18 in. high, 15 in. wide and 6.5 in. deep (45.7 cm. high, 38.1 cm, wide, and 16.51 cm. deep approx). The clock is in remarkable condition except for the bell.
