1938 S Smith & Son Spitfire Cockpit Clock Movement 8 Day Black MKII 3108/38 6A/579 Plane Vintage 1938 S Smith & Son Spitfire Cockpit Clock movement with black face. Marked MKII No 3108/38 S Smith & Sons (MA) Ltd London Ref No 6A/579 L 5/38. Research on the internet says these clocks are known as Spitfire Clocks and were used by the Air Ministry but generally could be fit into any aircraft in WWII (no guaranteed this clock was in a Spitfire). These clocks were issued from 1931 to 1940. Production ceased when the Swiss movements became unobtainable as the Germans surrounded Switzerland. The “L 5/38” means this clock went into service in May 1938. Please view pictures as there are part of the description.
