Offers are always welcome, provided they are reasonable. Please look at this incredible set of desk clock and inkstand by the distinguished firm of Edward F Caldwell & Co New York. I suggest you might even want to save an image of this pair because I suspect they will be sold and find their way into a private collection, never to be seen again. Each piece is 4" x 4" square and sit on little acorn-like feet. The gold dore finish on both is original and in exceptional condition. The clock is powered by an Omega watch movement. I can't say it runs terribly well...starts and stops. The face of the clock is in very good condition. An off-white material highly engraved. The hands are also highly detailed. To my eye the minute hand looks brighter than the hour hand and may be replaced. The face probably should have a crystal to keep out the dust. The inkstand contains the original ink pot. A clever feature is the decorative finial which sits atop the inkwell: It was cast with a slight lean back to it. It is NOT bent. It was made tis way to indicate in which direction the top opens. The front on the inkstand features a pen rest. There is evidence of old red velvet background to the decorative side panel of the piece. The clock once had the same background material but it has either worn with time or it was originally a darker color. Thank you for viewing my listing.
